Welcome to Montclair Counseling Center, one of the largest multidisciplinary mental health facilities in New Jersey. A nonprofit organization, we offer the community a broad spectrum of mental health services, educational workshops and consultation throughout the greater Essex County, NJ area. Our staff of expert licensed clinicians—social workers, counselors, psychotherapists, marriage and family therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists—encompass a wide range of treatment specialties.

We at Montclair Counseling Center understand life is full of challenges and constant change. All of us have, at one time or another, been confronted by life experiences and situations that have felt intrusive and overwhelming—anxiety, stress, grief. At other times, we aspire to increase our awareness, self-understanding and personal growth. To heal and better our relationships. When the challenges and rigors of life become too difficult to face alone, then time with one of our psychotherapists can provide the help and support you need.

Helping Teenage Girls with Eating and Self-Image Issues

body image"I Hate My Body!" How often have you heard your daughter say this to you? Does she often express disgust with her self-image? Help her start the journey to develop a healthy relationship with food, eating and her own body.

Our body image group will help your daughter become more aware of thoughts and feelings related to food and body issues, retrain herself to have a loving body image and a healthy relationship with food, and understand why dieting is unhealthy.

The group meets Tuesdays, 4:00–5:15 pm. For more info and to register, please call Dr. Jennifer Carlin-Mathis, x44.
