In child and adolescent therapy, the therapist engages a young person in an in-depth exploration of childhood/adolescent fears and concerns. Emphasis is placed on building self-esteem and conflict-resolution skills.
Growing up in today's world can be complicated and even a bit intimidating. Child/teen therapy provides a safe place for the youngling to express thoughts and feelings, and to have those feelings understood and validated.
The therapist can help the child to increase self-esteem and learn skills to navigate difficult decisions in life's great maze. Sometimes the therapist also helps the child overcome fears or worries, be they past, present or future.
As youngsters grow and seek autonomy, they naturally also seek distance from parents. Child/adolescent therapy can help young people to better meet life's challenges.
