“Says I To Myself......”
Henry David Thoreau
The above quote refers to what the writer Thoreau felt would be the best title for his 'Journal', and anyone who has ever shared his experience of journal writing knows the solace and strange satisfaction that comes with the private recording of our thoughts and feelings. Now there is strong clinical evidence that supports this view, and suggests that writing can be a powerful and effective means of self-care which promotes both mental and physical well being.
Focused Expressive Writing is a method of accessing and deepening one's relationship with inner emotional states. It has been used sucessfully with recovering cancer patients, victims of PTSD, and can be effective in the treatment of a range of emotional disturbances including anxiety, depression as well as compulsive/addictive disorders. Through gradual, guided exercises, FocusedExpressive Writing will help you and give you clarity and awareness of underlying issues that give rise to emotional disturbance.
