Susan Fenker, MS, L.C.S.W.

Executive Director

As executive director of the Montclair Counseling Center, Susan P.Fenker, M.S., L.C.S.W. brings more than fifteen years of clinical andadministrative experience to the position of executive director. She has worked extensively in both the public and private sector as atherapist, school social worker, child study team case manager, job coach, program supervisor as well as a grants and contracts coordinator.

Susan joins the MCC from the Bergen County Division of Family Guidance where she was the grants and contracts coordinator for funding across 15 different programs. She is currently an adjunct professor of sociology at William Paterson University, and is board certified as a licensed clinical social worker and certified school social worker. Susan earned her bachelors degree in psychology and sociology, and a certificate in criminology, at Rutgers University, Douglass College. She participated in the psychology program at Haifa University in Israel, and earned her masters of science in clinical social work from Columbia University School of Social Work.

Susan began her career providing employment training as a job coach and developer, coordinated volunteers and interned providing vocational counseling with Friendship House in Hackensack, NJ. She provided academic and career counseling and was an adjunct professor to students at Bergen County Community College, and in 1999, began her decade long association with the Bergen County Division of Family Guidance. During her tenure there, Susan served as a therapist with the Children's Afterschool Treatment Services program; as a supervisor of a program providing counseling and services for children exhibiting inappropriate sexual behavior; a grants and contracts coordinator; and in her most recent position, as a senior psychiatric social worker for the outpatient adolescent substance abuse and GED programs.

Susan's diverse background also includes working with children and their foster-care families as a social worker and case manager with Youth Consultation Service in Montclair, and as a therapist treating adults, children and their families with Jewish Family and Children's Services in Wayne.

A dedicated community volunteer, Susan's professional credentials are enhanced by her involvement with local organizations. She has been an active member of the GFWC Junior Women's Club of Verona for nearly eight years, and serves as public affairs chairperson on the state board of the New Jersey Federation of Women's Club's Junior
Membership.
